Arsenal to miss out on Santi but Newcastle to get Wayne Bridge - THE INSIDER

[LNB]However, so far Malaga's bid of ?21million looks like being enough to leave Arsenal in their wake and secure the player's signature. [LNB]Villarreal are facing a major overhaul with Giuseppe Rossi bound for Juventus and defensive stalwart Joan Capdevilla joining Benfica. [LNB]They will try to offset the departures with a move for Newcastle, Everton and Aston Villa target Sergio Canales from Real Madrid but are disappointed to be giving ambitious Malaga a helping hand in overtaking them in the league by selling one of their best players. [LNB]Arsenal were very keen but the price was considered too steep for the 26-year-old. [LNB]Although Cazorla was impressive again last year, he missed the World Cup due to a hernia and had had a season dogged by injuries in 2010. However, his versatility would have been well suited to Arsenal but it looks too late.[LNB]Fulham manager Martin Jol has been considering a ?1.5million approach for Liverpool midfielder Christian Poulsen. [LNB]Jol signed Czech under-21 midfielder Marcel Gecov last week and Swiss midfielder Pajtim Kasami yesterday but remains keen on bolstering his squad ahead of the new season and Poulsen is among a list of targets. [LNB]The Denmark international is available as Liverpool look to streamline their squad and they are looking for that to kick-in this week. Poulsen has done well in pre-season but is likely to be out of the first team picture once the season begins.[LNB]Stoke may also show interest as they have with other Liverpool players. Jay Spearing is available for loan and could yet go to Wolves while Dani Pacheco, who was on loan at Norwich last season, is also itching to get games. [LNB]He said: 'Quite simply, if they don't give me more opportunities, I am very clear that I want to leave.' First out he door could be Alberto Aquilani though as talks continue over a move to Fiorentina.[LNB] WAYNE BRIDGEManchester City to Newcastle THE INSIDER says: 3/5[LNB]ALESSIO CERCIFiorentina to Manchester CityTHE INSIDER says: 2/5[LNB] [LNB][LNB]As Sportsmail revealed Bridge has come under consideration by Newcastle as they weigh up alternatives for the left-back position should Jose Enrique depart.[LNB]However, the reason Bridge remains at City is because at the moment he is too expensive for clubs to take on. His wages are ?90,000 a week and City, like they did with Shay Given, do not want to pay off or subsidise any deals. [LNB]Bridge had a reasonable spell at West Ham last season although there were some not so great moments and clubs want value for money. [LNB]He is 30-years-old and City would sell for maybe ?4million but he would have to take a hefty wage cut to make any deal go through whereas he doesn't fall into the right profile for clubs such as Liverpool who could afford him. Newcastle have similar problems with Tottenham's Peter Crouch and Jermain Defoe. [LNB]Both want around ?70,000 a week and would command fees of between ?10m and ?16m, then there is the job of persuading them to swap London for the North East.[LNB][LNB]Fiorentina sport director Pantaleo Corvino has held further meetings with his counterparts at City but the two parties are still some distance apart on their valuations. Corvino expected a deal to be pushed through for around ?6million but City are reported to have offered just ?4million.[LNB]The 24-year-old has been on City's radar for some time but their offer reflects how they still don't want to be paying over the odds for players despite their riches. [LNB]They were disappointed to miss out on Alexis Sanchez but will sign Sergio Aguero from Atletico Madrid and are still looking for another two signings. [LNB]Another winger, Adam Johnson has been linked with a move to Chelsea but City are reluctant to do any favours for their Premier League rivals unless the bid represented a massive profit. Johnson is known to be unsettled by how he was in and out of the side last season and the same goes for James Milner and Shaun Wright-Phillips.
