Ivory Coast star Yaya Toure stretched his goal-a-game run to four matches at the weekend, but could not prevent Manchester City losing 3-2 at Aston Villa.
The midfielder and two-time African Footballer of the Year converted a cross on the stroke of half-time to put City ahead in the English Premier League clash.
But Moroccan midfielder Karim El Ahmadi levelled for Villa six minutes into the second half, firing a low drive into the bottom corner.
ENGLAND
YAYA TOURE (Manchester City)
Ivory Coast international Toure scored for the fourth game running to put City in front at Aston Villa. The former Barcelona midfielder converted a Samir Nasri corner to claim his sixth goal of the season on the stroke of half-time at Villa Park, but he finished on the losing side in a 3-2 defeat.
KARIM EL AHMADI (Aston Villa)
El Ahmadi sparked Villa's revolt by cancelling out Toure's opener six minutes into the second half. The 28-year-old Moroccan midfielder gathered a clever pass from Leandro Bacuna and arrowed a low drive into the bottom-left corner to record his first goal of the season.
STEPHANE SESSEGNON (West Bromwich Albion)
Benin attacking midfielder Sessegnon played a pivotal role as West Brom pulled off a shock 2-1 win over champions Manchester United at Old Trafford. His bold incursions into opposition territory kept the United defence on the back foot and he came close to opening the scoring with a first-half header.
WILFRIED BONY (Swansea City)
Ivorian striker Bony created a consolation goal for team-mate Ben Davies in Swansea's 2-1 loss at home to Arsenal. The left-back reduced the arrears from Bony's lofted pass in the 82nd minute at the Liberty Stadium, but the hosts could not find a way to equalise.
MAROUANE CHAMAKH (Crystal Palace)
Chamakh was the subject of derision after being booked for diving in his side's 2-0 defeat at Southampton. The Moroccan striker elected to take a tumble when presented with an opportunity to beat home goalkeeper Artur Boruc and Palace manager Ian Holloway said he went down "far too easily".
FRANCE
ANDRE AYEW (Marseille)
The France-born 23-year-old scored his first goal of the season in the dying seconds to add to Mathieu Valbuena's opener as Marseille kept in touch with the Ligue 1 leaders by winning 2-0 at Lorient. The team lie third in the table as they get set to face Borussia Dortmund in Champions League group action.
SERGE GAKPE (Nantes)
The Nantes frontman scored a wonderful solo goal as the promoted 'Canaries' climbed to sixth with a strong display when winning 3-1 at Rennes. The Togo international scored the second goal of the match just before half-time when he twisted past two defenders before sliding a brilliant right-foot shot low into the far corner.
GERMANY
FALLOU DIAGNE (Freiburg)
The Senegalese defender was sent off for hauling down Robert Lewandowski as second-from-bottom Freiburg were drubbed 5-0 by Bundesliga leaders Borussia Dortmund. With Freiburg 1-0 down, Diagne gave the referee no choice but to show him a red card when he brought the Poland striker down by the shoulder in the area.
IBRAHIMA TRAORE (Vfb Stuttgart)
The Guinea left winger netted Stuttgart's third goal in their 4-0 win at bottom side Eintracht Braunschweig to leave his team sixth. The 25-year-old netted his first league goal of the season when he latched on to Christian Gentner's pass behind the defence to slot home on 76 minutes.
RUSSIA
IBRAHIMA BALDE (Kuban Krasnodar)
The Senegalese forward almost scored with a close-range header on the half-hour mark, but was later substituted in a 1-0 loss at Volga Nizhny Novgorod.
MUBARAK WAKASO (Rubin Kazan)
The hard-working Ghanaian midfielder lacked final-third accuracy and was taken off midway through the second half as Rubin fell 1-0 at FC Krasnodar.
SPAIN
NOSA IGIEBOR (Real Betis)
Nigerian Nosa scored his first goal of the season as he swept home a loose ball from close range to give Betis a 1-0 win over high-flying VIllarreal.
PAPE DIOP (Levante)
Senegalese midfielder Diop had an 88th-minute penalty saved by Andres Fernandez, but his blushes were spared as Jordi Xumetra slotted home the rebound to give Levante a 1-0 win at Osasuna.
RICHMOND BOAKYE (Elche)
Although Ghanaian striker Boakye failed to build on his goal-scoring introduction as a substitute against Real Madrid in midweek, he came off the bench for the final 15 minutes against Celta Vigo and helped guide Elche to their first win in the top-flight for 25 years with a 1-0 victory.
