Adebayor targets top four

Emmanuel Adebayor insists he would not have joined Manchester City if he did not think they could qualify for the UEFA Champions League. The striker has linked up with his new team-mates on their pre- season tour of South Africa after signing from Arsenal last week. He is just one of several high-profile arrivals at Eastlands this summer, with Gareth Barry, Roque Santa Cruz and Carlos Tevez also brought in by Mark Hughes. Man City have been tipped to challenge for a top-four finish in the Premier League this season and Adebayor is confident of achieving such a target. He believes City can compete with all the top teams and could even edge out Arsenal in the race for a Champions League spot. Speaking about his new club, Adebayor said on Sky Sports News: "They have the players, they have the squad and they have the spirit to fight for the top four, and that is why I have signed for this club. "We will do our best, fight on the pitch and see what we can achieve. "I think we have a chance to fight against Arsenal to be in the top four."
