The Togolese striker missed the 1-1 draw with Blackburn after picking up a dead leg but had hoped to be fit for the trip to Austria. But he was left out of the 20-man squad that left Manchester airport this afternoon. Defender Joleon Lescott also missed the trip however Wayne Bridge joined up with the squad for the first time after recovering from a broken foot picked up in pre-season. Young Irish defender Greg Cunningham was also included in the squad to give boss Roberto Mancini extra protection in the left back role. However, the loss of Adebayor leaves the Blues short in attack with Roque Santa Cruz excluded from the Europa League squad and Mario Balotelli recovering from a knee operation.
