Adebayor: Happy camp at City
Emmanuel Adebayor has laughed off suggestions of disunity at Manchester City, insisting he and Vincent Kompany are "really good friends".[LNB] Twenty-four hours after Gareth Barry's apology for his behaviour on an ill-fated trip to St Andrews, Adebayor offered an explanation for the row with Kompany that was used as further evidence of Roberto Mancini's empire beginning to crumble.[LNB]That words were exchanged did not require confirmation, since pictures of Adebayor's difference of opinion with Kompany at Molineux during City's 2-1 Premier League defeat at Wolves were beamed around the world.[LNB]But, rather than show up splits within the camp, Adebayor feels it was merely proof of how desperately City's players want the club's drive towards the top of English football to succeed.[LNB]"Sometimes you have to shout and bawl to try and get a reaction from your team-mates and sometimes that means getting them worked up in order to do the right thing for the team," Adebayor told City's official website.[LNB]"That's what great teams do. It is all about passion and desire to do well and if Vincent and I are guilty of that, neither of us have a problem with it.[LNB]"We are really good friends and we have had a good laugh about some of the things that were written about us yesterday. It was funny because it is totally inaccurate.[LNB]"The press have treated it as though there has been some kind of massive fall out, but it couldn't be further from the truth - these things happen all the time in football at every club, either in matches or on the training ground and the only reason, as I say, is passion.[LNB]"Vinnie and I love this club and are passionate about helping to make it successful. If that means the odd disagreement, so be it.[LNB]"Trust me, if I have to have arguments with all my team-mates every single weekend in order to help us win the game, I will be doing exactly that and I would want the same in return."[LNB]Adebayor's words echo those of Barry, who claimed arguments - James Milner and Yaya Toure had a row in the tunnel at half-time during the recent defeat to Arsenal at Eastlands - are commonplace around the Premier League.[LNB]Yet Barry claims to have identified a sinister tone to the way these have been interpreted.[LNB]"Seems to be that way yes," he told his club's website, when asked whether he felt there were some outside the club who wanted City to fail.[LNB]"It is a bit sad really. Every little thing is getting scrutinised.[LNB]"If you were to scrutinise every Premier League match last weekend, or any football match, there will be arguments between players, more so when you are desperate to win.[LNB]"We have had two sets of players picked up now by the media saying we are arguing but that is because we are desperate to win.[LNB]"For me that is only a good sign and I am sure the manager has already pointed that out."[LNB]It was after that 3-0 defeat to the Gunners that Barry, Joe Hart, Shay Given and Adam Johnson headed to the home of golf for what was supposed to be a leisurely trip and ended up making the headlines for all the wrong reasons.[LNB]"We know we were in the wrong," admitted Barry.[LNB]"Even at my age you can still learn from different experiences.[LNB]"But that is in the past now. We are looking forward to Thursday's game first and getting back on track in the Premier League."[LNB]In truth, with qualification already virtually assured, this week's meeting with Lech Poznan rates barely a flicker on City's season.[LNB]It is Sunday's Premier League encounter with the Blues' Carling Cup conquerors West Brom, then the blockbuster Manchester derby with United at Eastlands next Wednesday that will show whether Mancini's squad is as harmonious as has been depicted over the past couple of days.[LNB]With Carlos Tevez away nursing a thigh problem, Adebayor is just eager to play a part.[LNB]"I haven't had that many chances to play this season so I was determined to enjoy myself at Wolves," he said.[LNB]"If people think I played well, then I am happy, but I would be much happier if we'd have gone on to win the game.[LNB]"My form is good and I am feeling great, but I need to play to get some momentum and hopefully I will be able to do that now."
