Wiles eyes starting spot

Macclesfield Town's on-loan winger Simon Wiles is hoping to be given the chance to shine from the start of games, after being restricted to a string of cameo appearances from the substitutes bench so far this season.

The 22-year-old Blackpool star has made six substitute appearances in League Two since joining the Silkmen at the start of the season and was particularly impressive in Saturday's 2-2 draw at Chesterfield.

He told Town's official website: "I'm really enjoying my time at the club as I expected to do.

"I came here to play first-team football and it's been frustrating having to be content with a place on the bench.

"But that's how it has to be and I'm not alone in wanting to get more involved. My current deal runs until January 5, so my target is to secure my starting slot before then and get some games under my belt.

"Throughout this season the gaffer has been first-class though. He's told me to be patient and that my chance will come."
