Watching brief suits Ince

New Macclesfield Town player-manager Paul Ince is confident he will not need to pull on his boots to help save the club from relegation.
Ince saw the Football League's bottom club concede a last-minute goal to lose 3-2 to Mansfield Town on Saturday in his first game in charge at Moss Rose.
The result was obviously a disappointment for the former England captain, but he saw signs that the squad he inherited is good enough to bridge the ten-point gap to the safety of 22nd place in the League Two table.
"I'm not disappointed, because I was very pleased with the performance of the lads, though of course it's a downer to get beaten with two late goals," said Ince.
"But I've said to the lads that I'm proud of them and they've shown me what they can do - but it's a kick in the goolies when you get beaten like that.
"However, we'll get stronger, fitter and more organised.
"I wouldn't want to play in a game as hectic as that and I can't play until January 1 anyway. However, if the lads continue to perform like that I won't be needed."
