Port Vale centre-half Richard Walker is determined to make his mark in the coming campaign, having endured an injury-hit first season at Vale Park.
The 26-year-old former Crewe stopper make just 22 appearances for Vale last term and wants to improve on that next season.
He told The Sentinel: "I'm aiming to earn a regular first-team place and I back myself to do that.
"No player should be at a club if they are content to make up the numbers.
"Once you get your chance, it's up to each individual to show how much they want a place in the side.
"I've had a few problems with my knee and I'm hoping to put those behind me."
