    Triple blow stuns Silkmen

    27 Nov 2006 - 10:38:45

Macclesfield number two Ray Mathias admitted he has never seen anything like the triple injury blow suffered by the Silkmen in their 1-1 draw with Stockport County at the weekend.

The League Two basement club - managed by former England international Paul Ince - lost defender Andrew Teague and goalkeeper Jonny Brain to suspected broken legs before on-loan midfielder Simon Wiles was also stretchered off with cruciate ligament damage.

"I've never seen anything like that before," said Mathias.

"I feel sorry for all the players concerned. It looks like they're all going to be out for the rest of the season and my heart goes out to them.

"They are all really bad injuries, especially Jonathan Brain. He's got a compound fracture to his leg and he said there was no feeling in it. That's very worrying.

"Simon and Andrew both have bad injuries as well and it looks like they're also going to be out for a long time."
