Simpson satisfied with replay
Macclesfield manager Gary Simpson had mixed feelings about his side`s FA Cup first round draw against Southend.Town twice led through goals from Colin Daniel and Nat Brown, but the visitors hit back each time through Antonio German and Barry Corr to force a replay at Roots Hall."They're a big strong side, very dangerous on set-plays and set-pieces so I was never going to be disappointed with a draw," said Simpson. "It's another game for the club and obviously we need every penny but it was still a blow to go twice ahead and let them back into the game."I always felt we needed that extra goal to get two ahead and we nearly did it. Tyrone Barnett was unlucky to have a header come back off the post and after we scored our second we did dominate for 10 or 15 minutes. But to be fair to them they then came back into the game."Simpson added: "I've always said that the league is our priority. We want to stay in this division and it's a plus for us that replay will bring in a bit more money, so I suppose the board at least will be pleased with that."
