Football League basement side Macclesfield Town have sacked manager Brian Horton after a dreadful start to the new season.
The experienced Horton joined the Silkmen in April 2004 and helped the club escape relegation, before guiding Town into the play-offs in his first full season in charge.
However, after losing a number of key players, Macc finished 17th in League Two last term and are bottom of the pile this time around, having failed to win any of their opening 12 league games.
The final straw for the Moss Rose board came with a 1-0 defeat at Hereford United.
Horton said after that reverse: "Four points from 12 matches is not good enough, I don't have to tell anyone that.
"I can't complain about my team's effort and their work-rate, it was just maybe in the final third that we were a little lacking."
