Macclesfield Town will name their new manager later this week as rumours suggesting Paul Ince is set to take on the role intensify.
The Silkmen are rooted to the foot of the League Two table after failing to win any of their opening 14 games of the season.
Ian Brightwell has been in caretaker charge of the club since Brian Horton was sacked just over two weeks ago, and said after Saturday's home defeat to Bury: "I was told before by the board that Paul Ince was going to be here today along with possibly one or two others. I've been kept well abreast by the board in that respect.
"There have been a lot of interviews for the job, he's one of them, so am I, and so are quite a few others as well. I'm still very interested in the job, I still want to do it and I still want to do the best I can for Macc Town.
"The board will make a decision after Tuesday and until then I'll still be taking training and the game on Tuesday, trying to do the best I can for this football club."
