Point a relief for Alexander

Macclesfield Town boss Keith Alexander was relieved to see his side end a five-match losing streak by drawing 1-1 at home to Chesterfield.

The Silkmen are only seven points clear of the relegation places and Alexander accepts the pressure caused by that situation.

He said: "To pick up a point against a team near the top of the table, who have spent all the money they have, is a magnificent result.

"Irrespective of how the other teams have done around us, we've got to take care of our own results and it was a great point and even more importantly for me a great performance.

"There has been pressure from supporters, but no greater pressure than I'm under from myself to do well.

"We've lost games and when you lose games and don't play well you get stick from all quarters - that's life."
