Macclesfield boss Brian Horton has handed defender Jimmy McNulty a one-year contract. The 21-year-old former Wrexham left-back linked up with the Silkmen during pre-season and impressed Horton enough to be kept on at Moss Rose for this season. On McNulty, Horton said: "I definitely think there is something there to work with." Meanwhile,Horton praised his side's defence after they bounced back from Saturday's 4-0 defeat at Darlington to draw 0-0 with Hartlepool on Tuesday night. He said: "We were much better at the back. Danny Swailes and David Morley were outstanding and when they are on their game they are as good as anybody. "I gave Jordan Hadfield his debut. His is a remarkable story. He came here last year and wasn't paid a penny but just wanted to prove that he could make it in the game. I love his attitude."
