New Macclesfield Town manager Paul Ince has drafted in former Tranmere and Wigan boss Ray Mathias as his assistant.
The Moss Rose post is Ince's first in management and he freely admits that he needs an experienced head alongside him if he is to guide the Silkmen away from the foot of League Two.
"I think Ray's record speaks for itself. He was at Tranmere a long, long time," the ex-England midfielder told Sky Sports News.
"I just felt that I'm not really accustomed to this league and I don't really know many of the players.
"Ray has been in this league, he knows who the players are and which players we require.
"I need that bit of experience. It's my first job in football and I need to bounce ideas off Ray. He is the ideal man and has been fantastic."
