Macc boss looks forward

New Macclesfield Town manager Ian Brightwell believes the Silkmen could challenge at the top of the table this season despite narrowly avoiding relegation last term.
Former first-team coach Brightwell was handed the reins following Paul Ince's departure to MK Dons last week and believes the future is bright at Moss Rose.
"Clearly the timing of Paul's departure wasn't ideal given it happened so close to the start of pre-season training. But I don't think anyone should hold any grudges against him as he did a fantastic job," he told the club's official website.
"It may sound over-dramatic, but had he not come to the club there was every chance we would be looking forward - if that is the right word - to our opening game in the Conference.
"A lot of people have asked me what my hopes are for the season. For me it has to be stability.
"But in saying that I would hate to think people thought I would be content with a mid-table position.
"We've a good set of players assembled at the club and outside of perhaps two or three teams with a bit of money, there is pretty much a level playing field."
