Macclesfield Town have allowed on-loan defender Clayton McDonald to return to parent club Manchester City.
McDonald made just two appearances during his first month on loan at Moss Rose.
"We had an option to extend the deal, but having sat down with Clayton on Friday we both decided it would be best for both parties if he returned to City," manager Keith Alexander told the club's official website.
"With JJ (James Jennings) and Flynny (Matthew Flynn) having done so well, coupled with the form of Shaun Brisley and Paul Morgan, I certainly wouldn't have been able to guarantee him first-team football.
"He didn't come here to sit on the bench so we agreed to shake hands and he leaves with our best wishes."
