Macclesfield Town manager Paul Ince has told five out of contract players they are free to leave Moss Rose.
The Silkmen narrowly avoid relegation to the Conference after finishing 22nd in the League Two table and Ince has started his rebuilding job by releasing Andrew Smart, Colin Heath, Marvin McDonald, Rob Scott and Robbie Doyle.
Meanwhile, Ince has offered 12 more players - Dave Morley, Matty McNeil, Andrew Teague, James Jennings, Carl Regan, John Miles, Alan Navarro, Kevin McIntyre, Jon Brain, Izak Reid, John Murphy and Jimmy McNulty new terms.
Non-contract player Ronayne Benjamin has been released, while Martin Bullock has already left to join Wycombe.
"The core of the squad from last season has been offered new deals and we are hopeful that most of them will accept the terms we have to put to them," Ince told the club's official website.
"Unfortunately we have had to let some players go. That is never nice but it is the reality of football.
"And in doing so it provides me with some scope to strengthen the squad in key areas and improve our chances of success next season."
