Evans' red card to stand

Macclesfield Town have failed to have Gareth Evans' red card from the 1-1 draw against Notts County rescinded.

The Football Association has confirmed that the 20-year-old will be suspended for the next four games - against Lincoln City, Rotherham United, Wycombe Wanderers and Gillingham.

It was Evans' second red card in three matches and was handed out for a rash challenge on Notts' Adam Tann.

However, Silkmen boss Keith Alexander thought the tackle was completely out of character, saying after the game: "It was a case of youthful enthusiasm.

"Gareth's been at the club a long time and I've never seen him put in a challenge in anger."
