Another tough test for Macc men

The Silkmen kick off with a trip to newly-relegated Northampton on August 8 and will hope to make a winning start before successive home games against Notts County and Port Vale. Alexander's men began last season poorly and went on to endure a bitterly disappointing campaign and the former Lincoln boss is demanding they hit the ground running against the Cobblers. "The start to the season is vitally important," said Alexander. "We saw that last year. "We were extremely slow off the mark and never really recovered to a real degree. "We had an extremely tough set of fixtures and to some extent it will be the same again this year."
