Alexander hoping for Brown boost

The defender did not train in the early part of the week due to a thigh strain but is expected to be passed fit to face the Gulls. Alexander could look to ring the changes elsewhere after his side were thumped 4-1 at Chesterfield last weekend. The Silkmen sit second-bottom in League Two having won just once so far this term and Alexander came in for strong criticism from supporters at Saltergate. Striker Kyle Wilson is nursing a groin injury sustained in training and could miss out again. Defender Shaun Hessey is still undergoing rehabilitation for a knee problem and has yet to feature this season.
