Keith Alexander was a happy man after seeing his Macclesfield Town side secure a 1-0 win at Dagenham & Redbridge to ease five points clear of the relegation places. Francis Green's strike 18 minutes from time earned the Silkmen a crucial victory, their first under the charge of Aleaxnder. He told the club's official website: "The lads showed a lot of character on a night when it would have been easy to use the conditions as an excuse. "It was extremely blustery, but they battled hard and I think we were full value for the victory. "Above all it was a great team performance and one we need to produce again on Saturday. "The results went our way last night, but there is still a long way to go in the season and it is vital we don't for one minute take our foot off the pedal."
