Alexander culls Silkmen squad

Macclesfield Town manager Keith Alexander has made massive changes to his under-achieving squad by releasing 13 players.

Rikki Bains, Joaquin Medinilla-Cabotti, Ahmed Deen, Francis Green, Jordan Hafsfield, Neil Harvey, Chris First and James Jennings have all played their last games for the club as have Christian Millar, Danny Thomas, Jamie Tolley, Matt Towns and Richard Walker.

However, the Silkmen boss has offered new contracts to Kristian Dennis, Gareth Evans and Izak Reid.

Alexander had promised sweeping changes at Moss Rose last month when he said: "Of course losing Martin (Gritton) and Terry (Dunfield) was a significant moment in our season, but I saw it as an opportunity for other players to come to the forefront.

"However, they had their chance and didn't perform to the level we require."
