Stadium plans get go-ahead

Macclesfield have been handed a major boost after plans to build a new stadium were given the green light. Cheshire East Council approved plans to build a new stadium and a cinema as part of a wider regeneration scheme after 10 months of consultations with locals and business owners. The stadium will be built on the South Macclesfield Development Area between Congleton Road and London Road. Silkmen chairman Mike Rance said: "The Council endorsement of the proposal is a massive stepping stone in the achievement of a sustainable future for the club, but it's just the end of the beginning for both the football club and for the wider community. "The challenge is now to put in the hard work that will be necessary to convert the vision into an economically viable reality."
