Simpson upset after brawl overshadows loss

Macclesfield manager Gary Simpson was disappointed after a mass brawl marred the end of their 1-0 defeat to Wycombe. Veteran midfielder Gareth Ainsworth wrapped up the points for the Chairboys after volleying home from David Winfield's flick-on. However, Winfield, along with Macclesfield duo Emile Sinclair and Ricky Sappleton, were dismissed following a violent 22-man fight. Simpson said: "He's (the referee) chosen three to send off but it could have been any one of the whole group. "It detracted from what was a very good performance from us, we lost 1-0 against a team second in the league but we hit the woodwork three times and on another day could have got something out of this game. "Of course I'm worried, I won't stop worrying until we're safe and have got those 50 points, it's a little more concerning because many of the teams around us have picked up points. But we'll dust ourselves down and just keep going."
