Simpson upbeat despite defeat

Macclesfield manager Gary Simpson felt his team were unfortunate not to take something out of their game with Shrewsbury. The Silkmen endured a 1-0 defeat thanks to Matt Harrold's third minute goal for the Shrews but battered away in search of an equaliser. No goal was forthcoming, however Simpson believed his side were worthy of grabbing an equaliser. Gary Simpson said: "I thought we had enough of the ball, enough possession, enough chances in the box and enough scrambles to get something from the game. They sat back in the first half and really didn't come out at all though they were a little bit more expansive in the second half. "However, apart from the early goal which we really should have defended better and Ben Van den Broek hitting the crossbar, they really didn't have much at all. "I tried to change it round in the second half but their two central defenders Ian Sharps and Daniel O'Donnell are experienced lads who just sat in there and won the headers. "I hope that all the boys in the side will weigh in with some goals just as we expect all of them to do their share of defending."
