Simpson: Squad will be streamlined
The Silkmen are currently operating with a pool of 26 players, but Simpson has revealed that boss Keith Alexander would like quality rather than quantity next term.
"By going with a slightly smaller squad you can afford to pay a little bit more for key players, in key positions," Simpson told the club's official website.
"So without giving too much away we are looking to target five or six key signings to give the team its core strength.
"We've already identified a lot of those targets with a view to bringing them to Moss Rose next season."
