Simpson sees the light

Macclesfield manager Gary Simpson admitted he was "breathing a little easier" following the 2-0 victory at Morecambe. Town moved above the Shrimps into 18th place after their win, which came courtesy of Matthew Hamshaw's stunning strike and Chris McCready's own goal. "People have been saying we haven't won in 10 games, but now we've only lost once in six games and have taken eight points from the last four games, so I'm breathing a little easier," said Simpson. "Again, I have to say we've played better and lost. It's been a season of missed chances so to score two goals and keep a clean sheet is really positive for us. "I've always said that we've got a good squad here. Certainly a squad that other managers would want especially on the wages we pay."
