Simpson rues tired Town

Macclesfield manager Gary Simpson felt his well-beaten side looked tired after crashing out of the FA Cup at Huddersfield. Jordan Rhodes, Anthony Pilkington, Benik Afobe, Jamie McCombe, Antony Kay and Gary Roberts were all on the scoresheet in a 6-0 rout for the League One side. "We always knew it was going to be difficult. We looked dead on our feet and Cheltenham came and did us on Tuesday and now Huddersfield have done the same," said Simpson. "With their quality and pace it was always going to be tough. I thought at times we could have had a bit of a go and we contributed to our own downfall at times. "We had three or four chances and I'm disappointed we couldn't get a goal for the fans. After half-time it was just about damage limitation." Simpson added: "In the last couple of games we have run out of legs and I had to give the players a couple of days off last week. We need to bring some players in but there's nothing doing in the loan market for us."
