Macclesfield manager Gary Simpson was pleased with his side's performance in their 2-1 friendly win at Cliftonville but is still seeking further improvements. The Silkmen began their pre-season schedule with a 3-1 at Buxton last week before an Emile Sinclair brace guided them to a 2-1 triumph in Northern Ireland on Sunday. "Any win is a good one but as always this was more about getting game time under their belts and working on the fitness, but we played very well, particularly in the first half," he told the club's official website. "They are a good side and play football the right way so provided us with a very good test. But as always there were good and bad elements to the performance. "We were sloppy at times and we've sat and had a bit of a chat about it in the dressing room but this is the time to notice things that aren't quite going right and address them."
