Simpson pleased to scrape through

Macclesfield manager Gary Simpson was happy to get out of their Johnstone's Paint clash against Morecambe with a 1-0 win. Vinny Mukendi proved to be the difference in a tempestuous battle at Moss Rose, producing a powerful low drive from Tyrone Barnett's nod down. "We've played better and got nothing out of games previously in the season, but besides that I'm delighted with our first win," said Simpson. "We played more of an open game with chances at either end and it was perhaps a game for the neutral. "Vinny Mukendi took his goal really well and he's certainly a fantastic prospect however he has had much better games and his first touch wasn't that good. He will only improve."
