Simpson looks for morale boost

Macclesfield boss Gary Simpson believes his young squad are in need of a confidence boosting win to kick-start their season. The Silkmen have failed to win in their first four games this season, including Saturday's 3-0 away defeat at Accrington. "The longer you go without winning the longer the doubt creeps in," Simpson told BBC Radio Manchester. "We had a little chat after [Accrington] for quite a while about sticking together and trying to do some things right and what we've got to do. "They're young lads from various walks like reserve football, non-league football and what have you and they've just got to stick together. "We've got to get back down to the basics, doing the right things and working hard. At the end of the day it's our job to get them back up there."
