Simpson hoping tide has turned

Macclesfield boss Gary Simpson hopes his side can start to move up the League Two table after getting their first league win of the season against Wycombe. The Silkmen raced into an early two-goal lead thanks to long-range thunderbolts from Colin Daniel and Tyrone Barnett before Scott Rendell netted a 65th-minute penalty for the Chairboys, who slipped to their first defeat this term. "We've worked on the finishing all week, obviously we missed a hell of a lot of chances last week," said Simpson. "We came with a game plan, we decided to go with the pace up top because we thought we might catch them out. "And it worked to a certain degree. The game could have been over at half-time because of the chances that we missed - we could have been four or five goals up. "Obviously I've been down and the players have been down because we think we should have picked up a few more points. But we scored two good goals and hopefully we can take that into next week."
