Simpson has Stevenage in sights

Macclesfield boss Gary Simpson has urged his side to beat Stevenage this weekend and move a step closer towards surpassing last season`s points tally of 54. The Silkmen have collected 46 points so far this term and are in buoyant mood after winning 2-1 at Morecambe in midweek. Yet Simpson is determined that they push on in the remainder of the campaign and has billed this weekend`s visit of Stevenage as a must-win game. He said: "If we can get to 50 points I'm pretty confident we'll be safe. In fact we may even have enough now as history shows that 46 points is usually good enough. "Hopefully we can get there as quickly as we can, and if we do then the next target is to beat last year's points' tally. "That's why Saturday is a massive game for us. Stevenage are on fire at the moment and if we were able to win, then it will raise questions as to what this side can achieve."
