Simpson frustrated after draw

Macclesfield manager Gary Simpson bemoaned his side's inability to see the game out after threw away a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 at Bury. Richard Butcher put Macclesfield ahead after 29 minutes and Dan Gray capped a dream debut with a goal in the 69th minute to double their lead. But with just eight minutes left Ryan Lowe set up a grandstand finish when he drove powerfully into the top corner of Jose Veiga's net, and six minutes later substitute Lenell John-Lewis was on hand to finish off some concerted pressure from the Shakers. "We could have been out of sight, but when they get one the crowd get up and the pressure was on. I was disappointed with that second goal. He was in the six yard box on his own and that should never happen," said Simpson. "We've come to a place where everyone said they were going to win it. They're a big club Bury and so were Oxford. We've acquitted ourselves well and shown we're not a bad team. "I just wish we could believe in ourselves a little more at times, whether taking chances or defending. We've stopped the rot and the last two performances have been good."
