Simpson facing dilemma

01 October 2010 10:30
Macclesfield boss Gary Simpson will be without a number of players for the clash against Northampton. Shaun Brisley, who has been out of action for a month already, has had a scan on his hip problem and will be out for up to four months if he requires surgery to cure the problem. Izak Reid will also miss out after failing to recover from the groin injury that forced him off at half-time during the 1-1 draw with Crewe in midweek. Richard Butcher and Paul Bolland have both returned to training following lengthy spells on the sidelines with knee and groin injuries respectively. Young striker Ricky Sappleton is also a doubt to feature in the squad despite spending three weeks in training following a knee injury. The 20-year-old also played 45 minutes for the reserves recently but complained of swelling and is unlikely to be risked.
