Macclesfield got their pre-season campaign start off to a winning start with a comfortable 3-1 win at Buxton. Goals from Richard Butcher, Nat Brown and Tyrone Barnett made light work of their Northern Premier League opponents, who grabbed a consolation goal in the second period. Boss Gary Simpson will be delighted with his side's run out after new signings Butcher and Barnett both got on the scoresheet, while trialist Osebi Abadaki set up Butcher's opener. Simpson also included new signings Sam Wedgbury and Lewis Chalmers in his side, while trialists Andy Nichols and Carl Pentney also started. The Silkmen continue their preparations for the new season with a tour to Northern Ireland, which gets underway with a friendly against Cliftonville on Sunday.
