New deal for Barnett

Macclesfield striker Tyrone Barnett has agreed a contract extension that will keep him at the club until the end of next season. Barnett only joined the Silkmen from Hednesford Town in the summer but impressed during pre-season and scored on his Football League debut against Stevenage. Macclesfield boss Gary Simpson said: "When we signed him, because he's over 24 we gave him one year with an option for a second, and have decided to take that up now rather than waiting on it and running the risk of losing him in the summer. "He's done very well in pre-season and is already off the mark. What we have been trying to do it tie down the players who will be assets to the club in the future. "We're trying to build something here and these players want to be part of it and to learn with the club. It's certainly beneficial for both us and the player to have that extra security."
