Jackson blow for Macc

Macclesfield boss Steve King will be without Ryan Jackson for their FA Cup third round clash at home to Cardiff.

The defender received a straight red card in the New Year's Day draw with Southport and begins a three-match ban.

Pablo Mills is most likely to replace him having been introduced on the day while Tony Diagne provides further options at the back.

King also has concerns over the fitness of striker Matthew Barnes-Homer who scored a late double on Tuesday.

He was withdrawn in the final minutes of the match and is a major doubt ahead of the trip to Wales.

Fellow forwards Amari Morgan-Smith and Peter Winn will both battle it out for a place alongside Chris Holroyd in attack.

Cardiff boss Malky Mackay could rest his entire first-choice XI as they prepare for their fifth game in 14 days.

Plenty of the club's development players and regular substitutes are set to be given the chance to impress against the Blue Square Bet Premier side.

Goalkeeper David Marshall, striker Craig Bellamy and captain Mark Hudson look certain to to have an afternoon off while the likes of Joe Lewis, Joe Ralls and Etien Velikonja are set to get some valuable game time.

Former Leeds midfielder Stephen McPhail has not featured since the opening day of the season, a Capital One Cup defeat at Northampton, but he could return having been a regular for the development side.

Peter Whittingham definitely will not feature with a knee injury, the ex-Aston Villa winger is targeting a return against Ipswich next weekend, while striker Nicky Maynard remains out for the season.
