Macclesfield take action

Macclesfield have hit their players and management team with a fine following the 22-man flare-up during last month's 1-0 home defeat to Wycombe. Silkmen duo Emile Sinclair and Ricky Sappleton were sent off along with Wycombe's Dave Winfield during the League Two encounter at Moss Rose. Macclesfield were charged with a breach of FA rule E20(a) - a failure to ensure that players and/or officials conducted themselves in an orderly fashion &/or refrained from provocative and/or violent behaviour. Now the club have taken their own disciplinary action following the mass confrontation and fined every player involved in the fixture as well as boss Gary Simpson and his management team. Chairman Mike Rance said: "After reviewing the evidence available to us we have reached the conclusion that it is difficult, even with the help of a good video record, to differentiate between the roles played by and the intent of the many players involved. "Clearly the majority of the participants on both sides were attempting to calm rather than exacerbate the situation but the end result was unedifying and we have concluded the sum total of the actions of Macclesfield Town players on the pitch could not be condoned."
