Silkmen skip past Shots Confident Macclesfield moved into the top half of the table thanks to their fourth successive home League Two victory, triumphing 2-0 over Aldershot. A goal in either half handed Gary Simpson's men a comfortable margin, although it was a game that should have been put to bed by the break. Macc might have scored in the 12th minute when Matty Hamshaw scuffed wide from eight yards. However five minutes later influential centre-back Natt Brown headed a Lewis Chalmers free-kick across goal for Colin Daniel to slot home his fourth goal of the season from close range. On-loan Everton defender Toto Nsaila then made a superb block on the line to deny Shots striker Anthony Straker with Macc keeper Jose Veiga stranded. But that was all the visitors had to show as the Cheshire side dominated, Tyrone Barnett heading straight at Jamie Young in the 24th minute and Chalmers forcing the keeper into a full-length save with a 35-yard drive. After the break Algerian midfield man Hamza Bencherif sent a scissor kick narrowly wide with Barnett putting a header into the side-netting. However, much-fancied striker Barnett made amends when he dispossessed Darren Jones on the centre spot in the 77th minute before racing to the edge of the area and finding the far corner to seal the three points.
