Stockley strike shares spoils for Stanley
Accrington held their nerve to earn a late 1-1 draw after being outplayed by bright Macclesfield.
Jayden Stockley stepped off the bench to cancel out Shaun Brisley`s first-half opener with a well-taken 78th-minute strike, although the draw still leaves Stanley without an away win in nine months.
Tony Diagne looped a header over the crossbar for Macc as early as the second minute, with Charlie Barnett skidding a low drive past the far post for Accrington soon after.
The hosts took the lead in the 20th minute when Brisley moved aggressively on to a Sam Wedgbury corner to head into the roof of the net from six yards.
Stanley came close shortly after the half-hour mark when goalkeeper Jose Veiga spilled a fierce drive from Sean Hessey only for Craig Lindfield to hammer the rebound into the side-netting.
Colin Daniel showed his marker a clean pair of heels in the 57th minute but George Donnelly was inches away from converting his cross.
Bryan Hughes then tested Veiga at the other end with a 30-yard drive which the Macc keeper clawed wide.
And it was left for Stockley, who had only been on the pitch 11 minutes, to equalise having shown neat control with his back to goal before turning and firing home from eight yards.
