Midfielder Brown and club captain Hessey are nursing shin and knee injuries respectively and have yet to feature this season. They will remain sidelined as the Silkmen aim to find a response to Saturday's 4-0 thumping at home to big-spending Notts County. Striker Emile Sinclair has recovered from a dead leg and defender Stephen Reed is also edging closer to full fitness after playing no part so far this season. Alexander is considering making changes to his side, saying: "Port Vale will be big and strong. We'll have to see if there will be any changes but I'm certainly not ruling it out."
