Loan market dismay for Simpson

Macclesfield manager Gary Simpson admitted he is finding it difficult to attract young players on loan after watching his side beat Northampton 2-0 at Moss Rose. Man-of-the-match Matty Hamshaw, returning to the side after injury to Izak Reid, set up both goals with pinpoint corners. The first after 24 minutes was converted by Hamza Bencherif and the second by centre-back Nat Brown with a powerful downward header in the 70th minute. Simpson said: "The secret is to be effective in both boxes. We've perhaps played some more pleasing football on the eye in other games, but we were more effective where it mattered in both boxes. "I've been trying to get in a defender on loan and a midfield player for the past two or three weeks, but the biggest clubs don't want to give them to Macclesfield. "We get an offer of a player and then it all goes quiet and so the squad is quite thin. I really feel that we should have had more points considering the way we've played this season and we've been a bit unlucky, but we've now taken seven points from the last nine and confidence breeds confidence. "We've certainly have some good young players at this club. I had an offer for Emile Sinclair this week but we turned it down. That shows the ambition of the club and it shows we were right to hold on to our youngsters at the end of last season when some of the fans were sceptical."
