New signing Matt Hamshaw has spoken of his delight after joining Macclesfield on a one-year deal. The former Notts County midfielder netted two goals in as many games during a trial period with the Silkmen and is now looking forward to starting the next chapter of his career. The 28-year-old is believed to have had a few other offers on the table but, when asked why he decided to move to Moss Rose, he told the club's official website: "Because I enjoyed it here really. The club have been good to me, I like the set-up and I think you need to feel like you are going to be part of something, and I really feel that here." Hamshaw, who ended last season by picking up a league winner's medal with County, added: "There's a lot of talented players here and we also have a lot of pace which can be very good at this level. "I think there are some rough diamonds in the squad but you always get that with young players and we'll all work together to get the best out of the squad."
