Decision baffles Macc chief

Macclesfield manager Gary Simpson was upset with the decision to disallow his side a goal in their 1-1 draw with Crewe. AJ Leitch-Smith scored a late equaliser for Alexandra after Town had taken the lead with a Tyrone Barnett header seven minutes after half-time. Barnett then thought he had doubled Macclesfield's lead when he headed in a deep cross but his effort was ruled out for a tug on a defender. Simpson said: "I can't understand why our second goal was disallowed. We should also have had a penalty at the end when the ball clearly rolled up Lee Bell's arm. "But I'm really pleased with the lads. What they lack in ability they make up for with spirit and effort. "With passing teams like Crewe you have to keep closing them down and pressing and eventually you break their confidence."
