Alexander upbeat despite defeat

The Silkmen's relegation fears have been reawakened by a dismal run which has left them just nine point above the drop zone with six games remaining. Yet Alexander refused to be downbeat after his men were beaten at Sincil Bank by a solitary Adrian Patulea strike. The former Imps boss said: "It is difficult for us at the moment, we cannot buy a win, but I was pleased with the performance. The young lads will learn from that, and they kept on going. "Obviously I was not happy with the result. I thought we should have stopped the cross for the goal, if we had done that we would not have to have worried about the two men in the middle. "We stuck at it though and were really unfortunate not to get something out of it. We will keep battling away."
