Alexander targets striker

Macclesfield manager Keith Alexander was left to look on enviously as Shrewsbury showcased their superior firepower with a 1-0 win at Moss Rose. The Shrews' pieced together the best move of the match to score the decisive goal, Steven Leslie rounding off some excellent passing football with a 25-yard chip over Macclesfield keeper Jon Brain. Colin Daniel and John Rooney both wasted glorious chances to snatch a point late in the day, leaving Alexander to admit he will look for reinforcements in the loan market next week despite an encouraging display. The Silkmen boss said: "I was pleased with our performance but not our finishing. "We passed the ball well but our approach play in the last third wasn't good enough and everyone knows that our problem all season has been scoring goals but Shrewsbury have one of the biggest budgets in the league and we did well to dominate for the first half. "That said I will be bringing a striker in on loan on Monday."
