Alexander plans squad overhaul

Alexander has promised to bolster his options following the arrival of striker Ben Wright, who signed from League Two rivals Lincoln earlier this week. The Silkmen boss, who has offered new contracts to Izak Reid, Gareth Evans and Paul Morgan, has revealed he is prepared to play the waiting game in restructuring his squad. Alexander told the Macclesfield Express: "We need at least 10 more (players) to have a squad ready for the first game in August. We need a couple of midfielders, a couple of defenders and another goalkeeper. We've got plenty of irons in the fire. "It's a difficult time because players are waiting for big clubs to come in for them, but often it doesn't happen, so we will just have to bide our time. "We are working hard though. I have probably spoken to 25 players today alone, and it is just a case of speaking to them and trying to put a deal together."
