Season's best for Stanley

Accrington extended their unbeaten league run in npower League Two to nine games with a 4-0 win over Macclesfield - their biggest victory of the season.

The visiting Silkmen started the livelier with Colin Daniel having two early chances, one of which took a deflection and another which Stanley keeper Ian Dunbavin kept out.

However, two former Macclesfield players combined for the Stanley opener after 13 minutes. Kevin McIntyre fired in a cross from the left which was headed home at the far post by Craig Lindfield for his fourth goal of the season.

Macclesfield pressed around the Stanley box without testing Dunbavin and the next goal was always going to be important.

That came on the stroke of half-time when Lindfield's corner bounced around the area with loan defender Kevin Long, perhaps playing his final game before he returns to parent club Burnley, powering the ball into the net from 12 yards out.

It got worse for Macc after 62 minutes when Charlie Barnett charged down the left into the box and his ball in was parried out by Jose Veiga before Micah Evans was on hand to fire home his second in two matches from four yards out.

And the win was wrapped up when Lindfield's corner was headed home from close range by skipper Andy Procter after 76 minutes.
